Global warming is mainly the result of CO2 levels rising in the Earth’s atmosphere. Both atmospheric CO2 and climate change are accelerating. Climate scientists say we have years, not decades, to stabilize CO2 and other greenhouse gases.
To help the world succeed, CO2Now.org makes it easy to see the most current CO2 level and what it means. So, use this site and keep an eye on CO2. Invite others to do the same. Then we can do more to send CO2 in the right direction.
Watch CO2 now and know the score on global warming, practically in real time.
CO2 Toaster Widgets
The CO2 Toaster Widget was launched here at CO2Now.org as one of more than 5,000 climate actions that happened around the world on October 24, 2009. This active little graphic grabs attention and shares important information about our planet. Not only does it say what CO2 is right now, it shows what CO2 has been, and what it should be.
To plug this nifty widget into your site, click the "share" button that's built into the widget, or grab the HTML widget code below. (Some instructions are also available below.)
Like other widgets at CO2Now.org, the world's most current data for atmospheric CO2 comes from the Mauna Loa Observatory (and the National Oceanic and Atmosperhic Adminstration) in the United States. The animated design comes from artist Franke James of Toronto. She mixes light and dark, and science with art to create a public work that gets people looking, touching and talking about something of significance to life on earth. Ultimately, the aim is to shine more light on the need to get atmospheric down below the upper safety limit for atmospheric CO2: 350 parts per million (ppm).
When you add this widget to your site or blog, more people can keep an eye on the atmospheric trends. That trend is presented in the context of what atmospheric CO2 should be, and when it was less than 350 ppm. This is an important step that ultimately supports a transformation in thinking and actions that will get us to the post carbon era.
The CO2 Toaster Widget is a collaboration of Franke James, artist & illustrator, Michael McGee, creator of CO2Now.org, and William James, programmer for The James Gang.

Since 2008, CO2Now.org has provided and maintained a series of 'atmospheic CO2' widgets that are ready-to-use and easy to add to any website. The widgets are 100% free. They are hosted at a highly-secure data center that is powered directly by solar panels. And, CO2Now.org pays the bill for the bandwidth costs . . . even for CO2 widgets used on business and government websites.
Atmospheric CO2 data is objective information and important enough to show to anyone with an interest in the well-being of the planet. We are asking people and organizations to spread the word about these widgets. (You may know one or two people you could talk to about using a widget to put CO2 information on public display.)
We are also inviting financial contributions to help sustain and enhance this growing CO2 widget initiative. Of course, contributions are voluntary. They also make a real difference. Whether or not you (or your organization) use a widget, support can be given at the CO2Now financial contributions page. And, whether or not you make a financial contribution, we hope you are able to use a widget.
