The Brundtland 600 widget is named in honour of Gro Harlem Brundtland, former Prime Minister of Norway. She now serves as a Special Envoy on Climate Change for the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
In 1983, Brundtland established and chaired the World Commission on Environment and Development (WCED), widely referred to as the Brundtland Commission, developing the broad political concept of sustainable development in the course of extensive public hearings that were distinguished by their inclusiveness and published its report Our Common Future in April 1987. The Brundtland Commission provided momentum for the 1992 Earth Summit/UNCED, that was headed by Canadian Maurice Strong, a prominent member of the Brundtland Commission.

Advancing the CO2 Widget Program
Since 2008, CO2Now.org has provided and maintained a series of 'atmospheic CO2' widgets that are ready-to-use and easy to add to any website. The widgets are 100% free. They are hosted at a highly-secure data center that is powered directly by solar panels. And, CO2Now.org pays the bill for the bandwidth costs . . . even for CO2 widgets used on business and government websites.
Atmospheric CO2 data is objective information and important enough to show to anyone with an interest in the well-being of the planet. We are asking people and organizations to spread the word about these widgets. (You may know one or two people you could talk to about using a widget to put CO2 information on public display.)
We are also inviting financial contributions to help sustain and enhance this growing CO2 widget initiative. Of course, contributions are voluntary. They also make a real difference. Whether or not you (or your organization) use a widget, support can be given at the CO2Now financial contributions page. And, whether or not you make a financial contribution, we hope you are able to use a widget.
